I AM TIME

I am a traveller,
I keep on travelling,
And the world travels with me,
From the infinity till my daring.

Creatures respect me and so do I,
I never get tired,
My journeys and goals are far from them,
And I have never been in the human herd.

I have seen dinosaurs,
And I have seen all His creation
History has been my subtle part,
And I have seen incarnation.

I have seen men getting civilized,
I have seen civilizations getting destroyed,
Seen I have the works of Shakespeare,
But seeing that all I never got annoyed.

I have seen battles and revolutions,
I have seen the creations of history,
And many things that today I know,
For them is still a mystery.

Seen I have the fall of kingdoms,
Seen I have the rise of colonies,
I have also shaken hands with democracy,
And there are many memories in my inventories.

I have cried over the deaths in disasters,
Which they call 'World War',
I have seen them using horse,
And now they do travel with the car.

I have seen so much that
Would unsurprisingly for them a surprise,
I also know that how
Pandavas lost everything on cast of dice.

My accounts are filled with glories and events
But I'm not a mere  spectator,
I have punished them with His will,
By telling their wrong deeds to the Nature.

Respect me and I will be a friend,
Worship me you will be blessed,
Just walk with me in my journey,
Otherwise I will be a foe, more or less.

With the weathering and urbanization,
I have seen so much and I will,
But the past days were secure for Nature,
As they knew nothing of hill and mill.

I'm the fourth dimension of fantasy ,
The biggest witness of every happening,
Nothing in this universe remain untouched by me,
Because I'm Time, the greatest superpower that never stops...

Death of detachment

 I closed my eyes and felt the whole world gone. It was my presence until the sounds of people walking without lifting their feet echoed. Those unsung sounds of birds, people, kids, and utensils, made me feel that I belonged to this world. My instincts tried to convince me otherwise. I went to the seashore, dwelled in my quiet room, plugged in earplugs and yet I kept belonging to this world. These are all omens or proofs of my belongingness.  There’s a beautiful helplessness in belonging that once you do, you can’t cease belonging to the world, even when you don’t want to; even when there is no meaning to it.

Do you actually need to eat pizza to be called an urban citizen?

 Today, while travelling I saw a new shop that was selling Dabeli(an Indian snack). That got me thinking about does that shop needs to be there? Does the world need more Dabeli? Maybe that area. But who cares! Those who need it will get it. And the business will thrive. More oil will be purchased, more white flour will be consumed, more fats, more gym memberships, more machines, more iron and eventually more money. That looks like a pretty good cycle. But do we need to have everything that they sell?      This point has already been made by a lot of people and in a lot of ways. I saw this point about 'consumer culture' for the first time in an essay called Upabhoktavaad ki Sanskruti by Shyaamcharan Dubey in our Hindi textbook Standard 9. Then it came again in several ways for instance in Fight Club (1999) movie. So it has now become the need to be in the trend.
